Abstract

The research aimed to recognize the level of psychological pressures and its sources amongst students at the college of education –University of Mosul and its relationship with students level of psychological stiffness amongst them, as well as the effect of certain variables on both the psychological pressures and psychological stiffness amongst students of the college of education methoud and the psychological stiffness amongst them. The researcher has applied the descriptive analytical and the research sample has consisted of (843) male and female students which represent about (17%) of the study population, a total of (5072) male and female students from all departments. The researcher has used two scales for measurement; the first is a pre-set scale to measure psychological pressures and the other, which was prepared by the researcher, is to measure the extent of their psychological stiffness. The validity and the stability of both tools were verified. The study has attained a set of findings, the most important of which are as follows: - The level of psychological pressure amongst students of the college of education was (79.85) and their average psychological stiffness was (81.41). - The study has shown that there are significant statistical differences amongst students of the college of education regarding the level of psychological pressure and psychological stiffness ascribed to the sex variable and in favor of male students. In other words, psychological pressures and psychological stiffness are higher amongst male students compared to female students. - The study has shown that there are significant statistical differences amongst students of the college of education regarding the level of psychological pressure and psychological stiffness and in favor of scientific specialization. - The study has shown that there are significant statistical differences amongst students of the college of education regarding the level of psychological pressure and psychological stiffness pursuant to class variable and in favor of the 4th class. The study has recommended that the university, educators and teachers in particular should establish guidance programs to promote the knowledge of university students of the concept of psychological pressure and the affecting factors as well as improving the terms of study in the university.
