Abstract
This research drives at studying the impact of using cooperative learning (Jigsaw strategy) on the acheivement of 1st year teachers training institute students in mathematics. In order to realize the objective of the research, the researcher has laid down the following hypothysis : (There are no statistically significant differences between the mean score of students whom learn mathematics by cooperative learning Jigsaw strategy & the mean score of students whom learn by classical method).
This study has been done on a sample consists of 49 teachers training institute students , they represent two 1st year groups for the year 2009/2010.
The researcher use the experimental design for two equivalent groups , he select the sample randomly , and he devide it to two groups the first is the experimental group which learn mathematics by Jigsaw strategy & the second is the control group which learn by classical method. After that he carried out the equivalence between them by adjusting some variables , he laid down plans for teaching ,and achievement test. He examined the two groups when he has finished teaching. He conclude the existence of statistically significant differences for the experimental group. According to the study results , the researcher recommended to use Jigsaw strategy in teaching , and he suggested to conduct similar researches in different classes by others.
