Abstract

The current research aims to define the effect of using Gange Model on the acquisition and retention of physical concepts for fourth secondary school female pupils. The sample consisted of (57) female pupils at Al-Bayan high school in Tikrit city. The sample was divided into two groups, the first is the experimental group (29) using Gange model and the second is the control group (28) using the traditional way. Both groups were equal in the following variables : general means of third intermediate class, physics degree of third class, age , academic Level of the parents, intelligence outcome. To achieve the aims and hypotheses, the researcher made a test measuring the acquisition of physical concepts made out of (24) items in its final from (14) items were true or false and (5) items were complete the following, and (5) items were choose from multiple . To carry out the experiment, the researcher made a group of teaching plans according to Gange model in addition to normal teaching plans. The researcher carried out the experiment and applied the physical concepts acquisition test on the sample and then made a re-test after two weeks from its first application to measure the retention of information. After applying the tool and using T-test as a statical mean, the researcher concluded, the following: 1. There is a statistically significant difference between the average of acquisition of physical concepts for experimental group using Gange model and the average of control group using traditional method and in favour of the experimental group . 2. Existence of statically difference between the average of retention of physical concepets for the group using Gange Model and the average of physical concepts retention for the control group and in favour of experimental group. The researcher found a number of conclusions such as the importance of Gange Model in acquiring fourth secondary school female pupils for physical concepts and retaining them . The researcher recommends training physics teachers on using teaching models like Gange Model in teaching by the preparing and training teachers unit. As such they provide to enrich the syllables of methodology in fourth year in teaching models and train pre- service teacher to use them .
