Abstract
This study aims at shedding light on the mythical Influence in Abi - Alala’s Elegies Sakt Azzand. The study consists of an introduction and two sections. The introduction tackles the close relationship between the poetry and myth. The first section is devoted to the influence of animal myths on this diwan. The second section shows the influence of star myths – whether embodied in earthly animal or pure star myths. We studied the way in which the poet employed myths in his poetry.
Through this study it became clear that poetry and myth are twins. Despite the fact that the human conscious was separated from the mythical thought, it was still influenced by it. Abu Alala made full use from these myths whether star myths or animal ones and whether native or universal but his employment of myths differs from one place to another. Sometimes, he enters a dialogue relationship with myths and mixes what is Arabic with what is universal. Other times, the merely narrates the mythical narrative.
