Some layers were only nine years such as the sixteenth layer. Al-Thahabi has translated to some kings, prices, their brothers and sons in one position even if they were from different layers to make the reader following up with events which were normally interrelated. He also followed a special style in formulating the translation. His name started with a "translator" then his nickname, surname and then he mentioned his birth date. After that he mentioned his teachers, students, writings, and his scientific effects. He also mentioned his scientific status by stating what scientists said about him. At last, he stated his death date. This book has contained a lot of types of criticism. Specifying the proper sites for covering the northern part of Iraq with climate stations
College Of Basic Education Research Journal,
2014, Volume 13, Issue 1, Pages 733-758
The northern part of Iraq is characterized with a mountainous nature which is undulant in its surface in comparison to the rest of the parts in Iraq, and that makes the role of the climate stations in measuring the various climate elements less accurate, because of the small number of these stations and because they are located in topographic parts with different elevations. Moreover, the elements which influence the climate haven't been taken into consideration in their specific locations in that area such as; the direction of the wind, atmospheric depressions, air masses and terrains and others. All this requires to reconsider the planning of the standards of their current specific locations and selecting additional sites by using the cultural map of the north of Iraq and the applications related to the GIS represented by Global Mapper and ArC GIS ver. 9.2.

College Of Basic Education Research Journal,
2014, Volume 13, Issue 1, Pages 907-922
Because of the calcareous nature of soils in Mosul city and the high value of the soil pH, most micro nutrients have negligible availability in these soils, therefore an field experiment was conducted during two successive growing seasons 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 to determinate the response of growth, yield and quality of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) genotypes to different levels and timing of zinc foliar application. The experiment comprised of three levels of zinc sprayed on the plant leaves one dose (0, 7.5 and 15 mg.l-1), three sunflower genotypes (Manon, Fodak and Sunbred) and three timing of zinc application (heading stage, flowering stage and seed filling stage). It was conducted according to Randomized Completely Block Design with split - split plot with three replications. The results could be summarized as: The addition of zinc sprayed on the plant leaves with concentration 7.5 mg.l-1 led to an significant increase in characteristics: plant height, leaf area, number of seeds.head-1, weight of thousand seed, seed yield per plant, total seed yield, seed oil content, seed protein content and oil yield, protein yield, while increasing concentration of zinc to 15 mg.l-1cause a significant decrease in all investigated characteristics in the two growing seasons. Fodak genotype gave a high mean for characters: plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, number of seeds.head-1, seed yield per plant, total seed yield, seed oil content, seed protein content, oil yield and protein yield in both seasons 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. Delaying timing of zinc foliar application to flowering stage causes an significant increase of all investigated characteristics in both seasons 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.
Spectrophotomeric Estimation of Thymol in Pure and Pharmaceutical Formulation with Diazotized 4-aminoacetophenone
College Of Basic Education Research Journal,
2014, Volume 13, Issue 1, Pages 923-934
A spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amount of thymol in pure form and in mouth wash preparation has been proposed in this study. The method is based on the coupling reaction of thymol with diazotized 4-aminoacetophenone in alkaline medium to form an intense red water-soluble dye that is stable and has a maximum absorption at 487 nm. A graph of absorbance versus concentration show that Beerʼs law is obeyed over the concentration range of 10-400 µg /25mL ( 0.4- 16 ppm) with a molar absorptivity of 2.77×104 L.mol-1 cm-1 and Sandell ʼs sensitivity index of 0.005µg/cm2. The method does not require neither temperature control nor solvent extraction step. The proposed method is successfully applied to the determination of thymol in mouth wash preparation.
A Study of Some Emphatic Arabic Particles in the Glorious Qur'an with Reference to Translation
College Of Basic Education Research Journal,
2014, Volume 13, Issue 1, Pages 935-948
This paper sheds light on emphasis (corroboration) in Arabic and the ways of emphasizing speech. Emphasis is widely used by Arabs to strengthen the meaning and to remove any doubt a receiver may have upon hearing an utterance or reading a statement. Unlike English, Arabic by its nature tends to use overstatement in many situations. So it uses emphasis heavily to give extra force to a word, a phrase or a statement. The study aims at (1) showing ways and purposes of emphasis in Arabic. (2) showing how emphatic expressions are realized in English. (3) pointing out some problems a translator may face when rendering such emphatic texts particularly in the Glorious Qur'an. The study hypothesizes that since English opts for understatement, the rendering of emphatic verses may not be as forceful and emphatic as the original. The study comes out with the conclusion that the renderings are often not as emphatic as the original.
