Abstract
Shechem is a Canaanite city that means the place "the bent" or "the high place", and the Torah mentioned that Jacob, peace be upon him, when he came to Shechem and authorized him to go down next to it, the city's ruler was Hammour Al-Hawi the Canaanite, and he had a son named Sheki, meaning the same name of the city, which confirms that the name of Shechem The city is a Canaanite pronunciation and meaning. The Canaanites are one of the tribes that migrated from the Arabian Peninsula and settled in Palestine in the third millennium BC, where Palestine was known by their name, so it was called the land of Canaan in relation to them. One of their tribes that descended on Shechem was the Hivites, and archaeological excavations indicate that the Canaanites established the city of Shechem in the middle of the third millennium BC, in the middle of an area rich in springs.Nablus is one of the important Palestinian historical cities that shaped and painted the history of Palestine and its land witnessed important events, and passed through very important developments and events, in addition to its land being the scene of history, civilizations and monuments, and therefore it is an important historical city, its strategic location contributed to giving it greater importance:
The study aims to:
1- Clarify the importance of the city of Shechem,
2- Clarifying the importance of Nablus, the Canaanite and its strategic illiteracy.
3- Learn about the most important civilizations that inhabited the city of Shechem in the ancient era
